Peking University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Training Courses for Young Teachers

At 2:00 pm on December 14, 2018, the seventh lecture of Module II of the Peking University Training Courses for Young Teachers, “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education” was held in classroom 308 of Science Teaching Building at Peking University. It is taught by Professor Zhang Haixia from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science and attended by 38 young teachers from this year’s program.

Prof. Zhang first started the course with an explanation of the connotation of innovation and entrepreneurship using the history of chips, through which she explained that innovation is a kind of general education and everyone should possess, and improve and use in lives and work anytime, anywhere after learning. Entrepreneurship education includes the transfer and sharing of entrepreneurial skills, procedures, knowledge and experience, but the most important part is the cultivation and training of such spirit. Then she shared her own stories in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship education.

The innovation and entrepreneurship education should be integrated into professional teaching. Prof. Zhang shared the teaching practice experience from six aspects: Firstly, teachers should not only know themselves, but also understand students and the society; Secondly, teachers should focus on the core, extract the essence from various resources; Thirdly, teachers should go in to the deep gradually and focus on the process; Fourthly, teachers should be rational and funny by using diversified and fresh forms; Fifthly, teachers should keep pace with the times and improve oneself for life; Sixthly, teachers should work tirelessly, seek sincere cooperation and never give up. By the end of the course, Prof. Zhang encouraged the young teachers to be confident, persistent and ambitious.

The course has been widely recognized by the participants. Many said they had great gains and a whole new understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship.
